Setup OpenVPN for MAC
If you want to set up VPN manually, go step-by-step to create your OpenVPN connection for Mac OS.
Tunnelblick is a plug-n-play VPN client for Mac OS X. It provides easy control of CactusVPN SSL VPN client connections.
Launch it. Click “Open”
You will be asked if you have configuration files. Click “I have configuration files”
Choose “OpenVPN configuration(s)” option
Download config files and unzip OpenVPN configuration file according to your package
Copy all the files to Tunnelblick config folder
Be sure you copy only the files, not the folder itself where they are located. Normally you’ll find it on the following path: /Users/[your user name]/Library/Application Support/Tunnelblick/Configurations.
For example for “US, UK, NL VPN” package you have to extract US-UK-NL.zip file into the “Users/[your user name]/Library/Application Support/Tunnelblick/Configurations folder”.
Click on “Open Private Configurations Folder” button
Launch Tunnelblick and connect to the config of your choice (you have to have an active package to make that work). To illustrate the connection being established, three dots will appear in the tunnel menu item. If the connection was successfully created, you will see light at the end of the tunnel.
Enter your username and password and click “OK
Enter your VPN package username and password (9) when prompted and click “OK”
Please take care not to include empty spaces when you copy them. Make sure you disable “Monitor Connection” under Details in your Tunnelblick menu to avoid constant restarts.
This connection will be active as long as you do not end it or log out of your computer. If your computer turns to sleep mode or you lose contact with the server, Tunnelblick’s will attempt to re-establish the connection.
Use “Disconnect” from the drop-down menu to end the VPN connection; use “Quit” to leave the program and to prevent Tunnelblick from starting itself at your next login at your computer (11).
